Two people — Rebecca Thomas and Osagie Akugbe – were on Wednesday before a Modakeke-Ife Chief Magistrates’ Court in Osun for allegedly engaging in a street fight.
Both Thomas, 25, and Akugbe, 19, whose addresses are unknown, are facing a three-count charge of fighting in public, causing breach of peace and conspiracy. The Prosecutor, Sgt. Ona Glory, told the court that the accused with others still at large committed the offences on Oct. 8 at about 9.00p.m. at 68, Ajigbona St., Modakeke-Ife.
Glory said the accused conducted themselves in a manner likely to cause a breach of the peace by fighting in the public using dangerous weapons.
According to him, the offences contravene Sections 83, 249 (1) and 516 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Osun, 2003. Counsel to the accused, Mr Victor Egede, urged the court to grant them bail on liberal terms and assured that the accused would not jump bail. Chief Magistrate Bose Awosan granted the accused N20, 000 bail with two sureties in like sum. She said one of the sureties, who should be accused’s parents, should also swear to affidavit of means and provide two recent passports. The case was adjourned till Oct. 29 for hearing. (NAN)
