President Goodluck
Jonathan has sacked the Managing Director of the Nigerian Ports
Authority (NPA), Mr. Abdullahi and has approved the appointment of
Sanusi Lamido Ado Bayero, as his replacement, according to a statement
by the presidency.
Sanusi Lamido Ado Bayero, new Managing Director of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA)
Premium Times reports that the appointment of the new NPA boss takes effect from Thursday, April 30.
No
reason was given by the president for the removal, he has however
thanked the outgoing Managing Director for his services and wishes him
well in his future endeavours.
The
removal of the NPA Managing Director follows a string of last minute
political changes effected by President Jonathan in recent time. It
began with the sack of former Inspector General of Police, Suleimon Abba on April 21, and his replacement, Solomon Arase.
On Monday, April 27, former Governor of Anambra State, Mr Peter Obi, was announced as the new Chairman of the Securities and Exchange Commission.
The presidency also appointment Mr Bassey Okon Akpanyung as the new secretary to the National Planning Commission (NPC).
Since Abba’s sack, fear and pandemonium has gripped aides of the president over rumours that more political appointees are likely to be fired in the manner in which he fired the police chief.
